FBI's Report for 2006 Shows 5.3% Drop in Overall Crime in New York City in 2006 Violent Crime Fell 4.6% in City Compared to National Increase of 1.3%. Property Crime Fell 5.6% in City Compared to National Decline of 2.9%. (source)
